The Bunkers

The bunkers are not a single district, but a category: scattered underground structures across Uphor, each with different purposes and levels of preservation. Some were built as military shelters. Others were converted from old transit facilities, storage areas, or forgotten substructures during the early collapse. While many have since been sealed off or repurposed, a surprising number still exist, tucked beneath residential blocks, parks, or buildings whose occupants may not even realize what’s below.

Their current functions vary. Some are still maintained as fallback shelters. A few have been taken over by companies for controlled-environment testing. Others serve unofficial purposes: storage for repair crews, hidden archives, or low-profile operations better kept off the books.

One of the only bunkers still actively used for housing sits near the Rows. It's an entry point to a larger network of former military bunkers, though only parts of it remain inhabited. It’s a self-contained space that attracts families with deep roots or limited options. The appeal isn’t obvious to outsiders, but residents have made it livable over the years, turning tight quarters into functional, even cozy homes. But few would call it ideal. Natural light is sparse, and it’s easy to feel cut off from the rest of the city.

Some people forget there are still residents down there. It doesn’t even show up on every map.
